Biography
Dr. Tina Bennett-Burton, DC
Owner & Head Doctor of Chiropractic
Tina Bennett-Burton is a successful small business owner, and mother, running for City Council to ensure Farmers Branch remains the best place in North Texas to work and raise a family for generations to come. A practical and fearless voice for citizens Tina got her start in local politics when a creek in her neighborhood was eroding properties and creating a hazard for the neighborhood kids. After months of delays, Tina took her neighbors concerns to council and helped secure vital repairs to keep the neighborhood safe.
missions
As Our Next City Council Member
Tina will use her business knowledge to combat the rising cost of living by cutting wasteful spending, reducing our property taxes without cutting community services. Eliminate needless red tape that hurts local small businesses and residents. Work to build a stronger small business presence helping create local jobs and expand the commercial tax base so we can lower the tax burden on homeowners. Support Farmers Branch first responders, due to its location (Tollway/635/35). Farmers Branch has a higher propensity for assault, as well as vehicular theft. To deter crime and keep our families safe the city must prioritize our first responders. We must strive to be good stewards of the taxpayer’s money and be vigilant in providing high quality services while reducing waste and inefficiencies. To this end, the city charter was updated and voted on in May 2024 but still falls short of what residents expect of its chosen public leaders. We must continue to tweak our charter until it serves our residents. Bringing people together to solve problems is my passion. I’ll always treat people with respect and dignity while providing non-partisan transparency between City & Citizens.
Accomplishments As District 3 Councilwoman
For First Responders
More technology(flock cameras), Public Service Officers, as well as, School Resource Officers to better serve our community.
Grant Position
To better hedge Farmers Branch residents tax dollars with grant dollars to improve the entire community.
Eliminate Single-Family Certificate
My last meeting I asked to eliminate the single-family certificate of occupancy program.
City Website
Improvement on the ease of searching the City Website.
Recording of all board meetings
Residents could easily listen to them later and stay up to date on current issues. When board positions came available, it was a priority for District 3 to be represented.
Protect Residential Tax Dollar
I also advocated for contracts with the city to be reviewed by the City Attorney and claw back provisions, as well as, performance bonds added to protect our residential tax dollar.
'24 Bond to assist
With the EPA mandated LCRR (Lead Copper Rule Revision). Think infrastructure drinking water.
Protect Residential Tax Dollar.
The younger families in the community wanted a splash pad in a park that was more open than the frog pond. My request led to partnering with District 1 to attain a splash pad in Squire Park. The funding has been approved and the design is being worked on for the future update of Squire Park with a splash pad.
Things I Advocated Against: A Brief Overview
01
Balancing Development and Property Values in Our City
02
Ensuring Developer Accountability and Resident Trust
03
Vacating the Boards due to Partisan Politics
Why? We are all neighbors. As I knocked doors for my first campaign, I was very clear “I will represent all equally and fairly. I don’t care who you vote for, if not me and I win, I will still represent you as if you had.” There should always be a place at the table for civil discussion; listen and learn from each other. If after hearing one another’s perspectives, we still disagree we should do so with grace. Love thy neighbor!

I advocated against the card house proposed in Farmers Branch
I spoke to a variety of diverse residents who overwhelmingly stated that they simply didn’t want it. This meant that if I, as a council member, were going to support it, I needed to be able to justify why it would be good for Farmers Branch. That was a hard hill to climb for many reasons.
The city of Dallas is in current litigation with one of their own boards regarding card houses. In my humble opinion, it is in our city’s best interest to await the outcome of that before delving into uncharted territory.
I also believe we must weigh the pros and cons of any new business wanting to come to our city. In this scenario, I was uncertain of the drain on our city resources versus the tax revenue they would provide. Please note that not all businesses bring substantial tax revenue independently, but they do provide a service to our residents, which is valuable; gyms, daycares, churches, healthcare, etc. Other businesses do provide more revenue (grocery stores, liquor sales, etc.), but the question was: will this specific type of business create a larger burden on our resources, outweighing what they contribute? Specific financial records were requested but not satisfactorily provided; thus, the numbers that had been made available at the time of the vote didn’t cover the utilization of our first responders. When looking at a map for possible income from hotel/motel tax, the majority would have been across the tollway; therefore, Dallas would receive that revenue source.
